Words from Our Pastor - Week of April 12, 2026

In Spirit & In Truth

Jesus teaches that true worship is not about rituals or location, but about a genuine relationship with God. To worship "in spirit" is to offer sincere, heartfelt devotion from within, and to worship "in truth" is to align that devotion with what is real about God.

When the Samaritan woman asked where to worship, Jesus used her question to reveal a deeper truth: God desires inner transformation rather than outward religion. Because God is Spirit, He seeks those who will worship Him sincerely, making true worship the kind that leads to a real relationship with Him.

Jesus was not merely answering her question; He was reaching for her heart. When she tried to shift the conversation into a debate about location, He redirected it to how and why to worship, showing that the real issue was not place, but the absence of a true relationship with God. Though she focused on external religion and came from a divided people, He revealed that God is for all and offered her genuine connection instead of condemnation.

This kind of worship not only honors God but also transforms the person, which is why Jesus spoke to her this way. True worship is authentic and is the path into a real relationship with God.

Power House, let's elevate our worship!

Yours in Christ,

Dr. Odell Riley, DMin

Senior Pastor

John 4:23-24

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
